Last year I went to the first ever Mile High Music Festival the schedule was good but the second years line up just announced is much better overall. This two-day festival held on Saturday and Sunday here are a few artists I would see: Saturday: Ben Harper & Relentless 7, G. Love & Special Sauce, The Black Keys, and The Band of Heathens. Sunday: Gov't Mule, Buddy Guy, Gogol Bordello, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Electric Touch. More bands are expected to be announced latter.
One of my favorite live albums is Steve Earle, Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark Together at The Blue Bird Cafe. So it's not a surprise that Steve Earle again will pay tribute to his friend, mentor and hero and one of the great songwriters of all-time Townes Van Zandt in his new album called simply Townes. It will be available as a deluxe two-CD set and limited edition double 180-gram vinyl. The album which is 15-tracks will feature Steve and son Justin Townes Earle singing together on "Mr. Mudd and Mr. Gold" and also will have appearances by Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine/The Nightwatchman, Steve's wife Allison Moorer, Dennis Crouch, Tim O'Brien, Darrel Scott, and Shad Cobb
After canceling their tour in September 2007 and the hiatus that followed The White Stripes are back! The White Stripes are scheduled to appear on Conan O'Brien's last show on February 20th on NBC. Back in 2003 The White Stripes performed for a full week on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. So set your tivo and let's hope a maybe a make up tour will follow.

As you may know the Spurs are my favorite basketball team. The Spurs have blessed its fans with 4 NBA titles over the last 9 years. While many basketball critics and so called experts had written the Spurs off and said their window for another title closed last year after the lose to the Lakers. Well that window seems to be opening again as if it can really ever close when Timmy is around. Here are reasons to watch out for them down the stretch and into the playoffs.
The line up for Coachella is out and it is a very solid line up. The head liners are Sir Paul McCartney (Friday), The Killers (Saturday), and The Cure (Sunday). The other bands that stick out are on Friday Conor Oberst & the Mystic Valley Band, The Black Keys, The Hold Steady, N.A.S.A. and Ryan Bingham. On Saturday it is TV On The Radio, Band of Horses, Fleet Foxes, Drive By Truckers, and Electric Touch. On Sunday it is Peter, Bjorn and John, Okkervil River, and Jenny Lewis.
I have been following the Randy Rogers Band for along time now all the way back to the early days when they only had one album out. So tonight as they make an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman I can't help but think back to 6 or 7 years ago to the first time I saw Randy Rogers play I remember thinking he could be part of the next wave of Texas Music. Make sure you tune in tonight or set your TIVO to record it. Check the Randy Rogers Band out at their web site or MySpace
